Commemorating 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence

To mark 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Leo Club of Kathmandu Kohinoor held an awareness session at Shramik Shanti Secondary School in Sankhamul on December 8, 2021.

5th-year law students were engaged to make this program as informative as possible (tag them). They provided grade 8 students with information on GBV from a legal standpoint (2 sections; approximately 75 students). They discussed issues like child marriage, domestic violence, Chaupadi pratha, rape, Boksi pratha, and child sexual abuse, as well as how these issues are not just of women but the whole society. They also urged students to take a stand against prejudice, misbehavior, and inequality in any form.

While doing this awareness program, we realized the unawareness level of students concerning topics like these. Therefore, our club intends to do more of these kinds of programs. We would also like to express our gratitude to our speakers Ms. Sampada Adhikari & Ms. Nirjala Adhikari for dedicating their time and effort for this program.
